Jan 22 Exodus 1-4 "Moses, I will make you successful."

Oh yeah - on the mission God had ordained for Him. God spent 80 years preparing Moses for His mission to lead His people out of Egypt. God got him in Pharaoh's household to give him the secular training of a prince. Then, God humbled him as a shepherd on the backside of a desert for 40 years. Despite feeling ill-prepared for the mission, Moses had the power of God guiding him all the way.

What mission is God preparing you for? Are you learning your lessons carefully - most of all, faithfully?

  1. What is Exodus 4:24-26 about? It has always seem to come out of nowhere...

  2. Great question. Moses spent his 1st 40 years in Pharaoh's household and the next 40 years among the Midianites. it is highly unlikely that Moses was familiar with the importance of circumcision with God's covenant with the Israelites. Go back and read Genesis 17:1-14 and see that the punishment for not circumcising your son was to be cutoff from the people - it was a breach of the covenant. Moses would have been a terrible witness to the Jewish people had his own son not been circumcised. Moses himself had to learn to fear God much more than Pharaoh.

  3. Was it that Aaron was only sent to go along with Moses because of Moses' insecurity about his ability to speak eloquently? I found it really interesting to read about all the convincing that God had to do to get Moses to agree. But I guess it's the same even now, although God knows best... We can just be so stubborn sometimes.

  4. It appears Aaron was sent because of Moses' insecurity. Moses' other mistake was that he thought eloquence of speech was going to convince Pharaoh as opposed to the power of God. As Bible readers today, we can see that eloquence meant nothing to Pharaoh, but a whole bunch of the power of God. We all can learn that our best efforts will not always give us success. We need God's power. We need to be on our knees for it. People who really understand this are prayer warriors. People who don't get it - particularly people gifted with strong abilities - aren't very prayerful. Spiritual maturity includes a strong understanding of our own limitations and the power of God.
