July 16 Isaiah 48:16-50:11 The Cost of Sin

Sunday was Communion Sunday at our church. The words of Isaiah in Chapter 50 remind me of the terrible cost of your and my sin to our Savior, Jesus. He offered His back to the scourger's whip. Jesus loved us so much, He "offered" His back as payment for our sins. He offered his cheeks to those who pulled out His beard! He did not hide His face from mocking and spitting. We often forget the emotional suffering that Jesus endured in addition to our physical suffering.

I wonder if our sinning ways could be curtailed if we reflected on just these few verses just before we indulge our sin natures?
