July 17 Isaiah 51:1-54:3 Jesus: The Suffering Servant

Who can read Isaiah 53 and not be moved by the description of Jesus' suffering for our sin. The description actually begins in Chp. 52 where we are told that many were appalled by Jesus' appearance - disfigured beyond any man or any human likeness. How awful He must of looked in our sight - how awful our sin must be in God's sight. Surely by His wounds, we are spiritually healed. How hard it must have been for the LORD to crush Him and to cause Him to suffer - how much God must love us to go through this suffering to make a way for us to have peace with Him.
