July 23 vv. from II Kings 21-23; II Chronicles 33-34 Josiah's Godly Character

Although Josiah's dad was an evil, ungodly king, Josiah grows up to be godly. Scripture identifies Josiah as Judah's most godly king - with all his heart, soul, and strength. He may have been influenced by his then humbled grandfather at a very young age. Perhaps the people around him - who incidentally murdered his evil dad - might have taught him the ways of the LORD. Zephaniah the prophet certainly had a profound affect as we will read tomorrow.

My point is this that we don't have to blame our own bad choices as adults on our parents. Early in life, perhaps. But as we age, we have the opportunity for our repentance and we become accountable for our own choices - good and bad.
